LED Memorial Candles for Graveside Lanterns: A Practical Guide

LED memorial candles are increasingly used inside grave lanterns because they combine the appearance of candlelight with simple battery-powered operation. For customers looking for a grave light or memorial light without a traditional flame, an LED insert can be a practical option.

What is a flame-effect LED candle?

A flame-effect LED candle uses a small light source shaped or animated to resemble a candle flame. The aim is not to produce a harsh electric light, but a warmer glow that looks appropriate inside a remembrance lantern.

Check the insert height

Lantern interiors vary, so the size of the LED insert matters. Our current collection uses either a 15 cm LED insert or a 12.5 cm LED insert depending on the model. A replacement should fit comfortably inside the available space without touching the top cover.

Battery-powered convenience

Several of our 12.5 cm LED candle inserts are powered by 2 × AA batteries. This makes battery replacement straightforward. Battery life depends on the specific insert, battery brand and usage, so it is best to check the insert regularly when visiting the memorial.

LED or wax candle?

Both can create a meaningful memorial light. LED is convenient and avoids an open flame, while some people prefer the traditional appearance of wax. Selected Memorial Candles heart lanterns include a glass inner tube or suitable interior space for an appropriately sized LED or wax candle insert.

Choosing a lantern supplied with LED

Buying a complete memorial lantern with LED candle means the insert has already been matched to the lantern size. It also allows you to see how the lantern looks when illuminated before choosing a replacement.
